CBS Records

CBS Records is a unit of CBS Entertainment that signs and develops recording artists, and offers an alternative approach to introducing them to the marketplace through integrating their music into programming on the CBS Television Network. Additionally, the new music venture capitalizes on the powerful marketing reach of CBS Corporation's diverse portfolio of mass media platforms, including The CW, Showtime, CBS Television Distribution, CBS Interactive, and many more, to promote its music and talent directly to consumers.

Music by CBS Records artists is consistently utilized prominently in CBS/CW programming, and the label’s first soundtrack release – NCIS: The Official TV Soundtrack – is one of the top-selling television soundtracks in the country. Distribution of the label’s music is secured through agreements with an array of outside partners, including RED Distribution in North America. The new CBS Records is not related to the former CBS Records business or its artists or assets, which were acquired by Sony in 1988.

Will talks about Jam…….

Pearl Jam that is.

The following extract comes from a live review (by Karin Dailey - no relation) of a recent Pearl Jam show at TD Garden. She asked CBS Records troubadour Will his thoughts on the show and his love of Pearl Jam -

Will Dailey has been to several Pearl Jam shows and shared his thoughts on last evening, “I’ve been a fan of this band, since I first saw the video for ‘Alive’, when I was a kid. Since then, I’ve always been drawn to their sense of genuine independence and honesty.” Dailey is part of Boston’s music scene – a singer/songwriter himself. He added, “My favorite album is probably, Yield. It was played so much with a group of friends, that when I hear it, I’m transported to a former version of myself. My favorite song is probably ‘Speed of Sound’ - just gorgeous piece of song writing.” Will finishes, “[The show] gets the same high marks, as usual. The band played a real 32 song, rock and roll show, with the more energy than most new bands. All the peaks and valleys kept the audience riding a wave from note to note, until the last two songs, when the house lights went up, because they were beyond curfew.”
